Swarnaprashan Sanskar is a revered Ayurvedic pediatric ritual described in classical texts such as Kashyapa Samhita. It involves the administration of purified gold (Swarna Bhasma) mixed with natural immunity-boosting herbs, honey, and ghee to infants and children. This traditional sanskar is ideally given from birth up to 16 years of age, especially on the auspicious day of Pushya Nakshatra, which is considered highly beneficial for growth and nourishment.
The primary aim of Swarnaprashan Sanskar is to strengthen a child’s immunity, enhance physical growth, and support mental development. Regular administration is believed to improve memory, intellect (medha), digestion, strength, and overall vitality. It also helps in building resistance against recurrent infections, allergies, and common childhood illnesses, making the child healthier and more resilient.
